In 2013, Lichtblick began renovating. Our little atelier in Schwörstadt, Germany, which, with the help of friends and our landlord, we had simply and lovingly renovated, was extended. We were also able to plant a small garden which shields us somewhat from the heavily traveled street.
A message in December, 2011, initiated these changes. Our landlord at the time had filed bankruptcy and we were faced with the possibility of having to move. We examined possible alternative locations, but in the end, the financial support of two Lichtblick members, a generous donation and an interest-free loan enabled us to purchase our rooms as well as adjoining sections of the building. Further donations and loans have enabled us to transform parts of the building into a glass etching workshop with six workplaces and to begin the glass etching training. In August, 2014, we were able to insulate and install heating in an unheated room already in use. Now we are able to hold seminars for small groups, work with test persons, and offer metal colour light therapy here in Schwörstadt in the cooler times of the year.
With these renovation we have come closer to realizing Marianne Altmaier’s vision of having a center for researching and developing metal colour light therapy on an anthroposophical basis here in Schwoerstadt. Even at this point in time - close as the space is - everything is present for the transformation of the base substances into glass, the following transformation of that glass into a therapeutic medium, it’s therapeutic use and training individuals. With the increasing interest in and expansion of our activities, it has already become apparent that we will need to gradually renovate the unused parts of the building. A larger seminar room, improved plumbing and heating systems, a kitchen, a room for trainees and an office would offer us more possibilities.
We can only begin with these renovations once the poorly insulated and partly leaking roof has been repaired. That will require larger financial resources.
If you would like to help us with these urgently needed renovations, we would be grateful for your donation, marked “Renovations” sent to the Lichtblick account below.
